Cotton candy margaritas

Cotton candy margarita recipe | Suchthespot.comThe fair recently passed through town.  Confession: we’ve lived here for nine + years and still we’ve never once visited the fair.  Confession #2: I don’t think we’re missing much.  In any case, we couldn’t very well let the fair pass through town without commemorating the event in one way or another, right?  Of course not.  So we did what any Arizonans would do and we made themed margaritas.  Cotton candy-themed margaritas, to be exact.

These are fair flavors in a glass.  Granted, your first fair food thought might be corndog–you can thank me for not making those.  Yuck.

I hope you’ll try your hand at these super fun, nostalgic margaritas.  Technically, maybe margaritas shouldn’t be nostalgic.  But for those of us who broke the law in our youth–well, you get the idea.

  • 3/4 c. tequila
  • 1/2 c. fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 c. cream soda (Jones soda brand, preferred)
  • 1/4 c. orange liqueur
  • 1 package cotton candy

  1. Combine all liquid ingredients in a mason jar and shake vigorously. Fill serving glasses 3/4 of the way with cotton candy. Pour mixture over cotton candy until glass is half full (because we're optimists around here). Add ice. Stir to combine. Cheers!

  1. You had me up until the cream soda. I’ve never tried it because the name skeeves me out so much.

  2. Definitely not missing much! We go about every three years or so, but – for the most part – we find it to be overcrowded and overpriced.

  3. I am so excited to try this! I am having a ladies night tonight and will be making it for the ladies!

  4. I was curious but after looking at the ingredients these look way too sweet for me. I like cream soda but not in my margarita. Besides, a true Margarita should never be sweet.

  5. What is the cotton candy? Is it a powder mix? I’m from Canada so maybe it is something I’m not familiar with. I hope I can find it, as these look delicious!
