Teacher appreciation week is always a welcome event in my house for two reasons:
1. It’s a great opportunity to get the kids excited about doing something nice for others.
2. Teacher appreciation weeks falls just before the end of the school year so it means we’re almost done!
I do admit, though, that it can be an expensive undertaking if you let it get out of hand. The good news is that with a little forethought and creativity, it’s easy to give a gift that is both useful and inexpensive while still being pretty darn cute. Today, I’m sharing an idea for a teacher appreciation gift that fits all of those criteria.
I, for one, love using fresh herbs in the kitchen and think they make an excellent gift. When you add the cute tag, this is a great way to express appreciation for all that teachers do every day.
I found these super cute little potted herbs at Trader Joe’s for three bucks each. I wanted to beautify them a bit–even though they were pretty cute as is–so I wrapped a strip of brown craft paper around the pot and tied it off with a piece of jute. And then, after cutting out my tags, I used a razor blade to make slits that the paper straw could fit through and voilà, our teacher appreciation gifts are ready to go. Sweet and simple, right?

No cute saying to go with it, but we’ve potted basil as a teacher gift before, and included our favorite pesto recipe. Herbs are definitely a gift *I* would like to receive!

Darcie…THank you for your generous post and tags. I love them. Would you kindly let me know which font that is. I do not have a blog so I have no intention of using the font for that purpose.
