Chicks Dig ‘Em

*****Lucky comment number #75 was randomly chosen as the winner of the Eleven Collection shoes.  Congratulations to Lori from Building Our Nest!*****

My 2.5 year-old son has the most disgusting habit.  It’s almost embarrassing to admit, even though it’s his habit, not mine.

He picks his nose.

That’s not the worst part though.  The picking of the nose is probably something I could live with.

What he does with his, uh, finds?  That’s the worst part.

He inspects whatever comes out on the end of his finger.  And then he eats it.

Gross.  I know.

His daddy has taken to telling him, “Don’t eat your boogers Jayce.  Chicks don’t dig that.”

Well?  They don’t.

Jayce’s disgusting habit has yet to deter the chicks from digging him though.  He’s honestly a virtual chick magnet.  Seriously.  I’d start to worry if Jeff began finding excuses to take Jayce on solo ventures all the time because I know the ladies would be flocking to them in droves.

I’d like to think that his curly blond locks and gorgeous blue eyes are the draw.  But if I’m being honest, I know there is more to it than that.

The kid has style.  Style that comes, in no small part, from his footwear.  And his footwear?  It comes from Eleven Collection shoes.

Every single time he wears those shoes in public someone, somewhere compliments them.  Every. time.

Not that I blame them; I am head over heels for Eleven shoes myself.  But really?  Looking at these?  How could anyone not be?

Adorable, yes?

But the beauty of these shoes is far more than skin deep.  I can totally vouch for their durability.  Jayce started wearing his first pair of Eleven shoes last year in September.  He still wears them–that same pair–today.  They’re leather so they give a bit and stretch to accommodate his foot.  Even his big ‘ol honkin’ feet.  He normally has to wear a shoe designated as wide, but the Eleven shoes fit him comfortably.  And we all know how boys play.  But in spite of the wear (and plenty of tear) Jayce has put on his shoes, they’ve held up amazingly well!

The Spring line (available in sizes 9-3) includes a stylin’ array of sandals, tennies, and dress shoes for boys and girls.  Personally, I’m partial to the Caper and the Joaquin for boys; Jayce owns a pair of each style.  Cassidy also has two pairs in her closet and I’m thinking of ordering her a pair of the Maya’s to wear with her Easter dress.

How about your little ones?  Could they use an update to their spring footwear?  You’re in luck then because I’m giving a pair away.  To enter, just click your way over to Eleven Collection’s website and take a look at what they’ve got available.  Then come back here and leave me a comment (by midnight on Thurs., April 2nd) telling me which pair sets your heart ablaze.  I will randomly select one winner on Friday, April 3rd.  Any entries that don’t comply with these directions will be disqualified.

For those of you who don’t win…right now Eleven Collection shoes has a free shipping offer if you order two or more pairs.  And they really have some great deals going on.  Click on the “Sale” button in the lower left hand corner of the page to snag a hot deal!

  1. My niece picks her boogers and eats them. Completely disgusting, but if he doesn’t do it in public it’s his prerogative!

I like Alexi, Sasha, and NORA for the girl shoes

and the Kai and OCean for the boys!

    They look way comfy!

  2. Wow, even reading about booger eating brings up my gag reflex. Thanks for that. Ick.

As for the shoes, why can’t they make them in my size??? I want a pair of the Pixies! But I guess having some for the kiddo would have to do. Do you think they’d stretch to a women’s size?

  3. We have 2 booger pickers at our house! Haven’t found a way to stop them yet.
I love the Red Alexi’s! So cute!
I don’t think it’s the shoes though, Jayce is is darling!

  4. I like the Carlo and the Caper. My son needs a new pair of sandles though, so I’d maybe go with the Firefly. Maybe.

  5. Oh how fun!!! I’ve been wanting to try a pair of these shoes, and when I started reading this post I was REALLY hoping for a giveaway!! I love the Sofia shoes. But then I saw Alexi. Just can’t decide!!! They are gorgeous! Thanks!

  6. Luke thankfully does not do that! He picks his nose, then says BYE BYE BOOGER. I can’t decide if it’s cute or gross.
I really like the Joaquin sandals!

  7. My little one has Fred Flintstone feet as well, so it’s nice to hear that there’s something out there that will fit him other than Stride Rites! I think the Joaquins would be really cute for this summer…

  8. boys=boogers…and that’s all I’ll say, lol.

As for those super cute shoes, I like the Joaquin for my littlest…

Too bad they don’t make the girls’ shoes in larger sizes though…having a little shoe envy here…

  9. Ohhh, so cute shoes. They remond me of a 50’s style which I so love! Can’t even decide which are my favorite, Anya in Pink or the Rio in Blue! Thanks for the website and the chance to win.
    Love your funny, honest blog.

  10. What an excellent review! I went from eww to wow.

My faves are…boys: Oslo, Orlando, Iggy and Carlo.

Girls: Alexi, Anya, Josie, Kasota, Maya, Nadia and pixie are among my faves.

  11. Thankfully my two year old doesn’t do that…yet. She’s actually pretty girlie and will ask to clean her hands if they are dirty. If our next child is a boy it’s really going to rock her clean little world!

Anyway, these are great looking shoes. I wish that I would have known about them a few weeks ago before I bought my daughter some new sandles.

It was hard to choose…but my favorite is the Laura mary janes. Too cute!

  12. Unfortunately, my biggest booger picker/consumer is my darling little girl! Not that her boogers are bigger than anyone else’s, you understand…

She’s also the only one small enough to fit into these darling shoes. I like Lucia, Emma, and Laura. She is all about the pink.

  13. That pair of Alexi makes my heart sing! Those shoes are KEY-UTE! I’ve never heard of them before, surprisingly.

My daughters BOTH pick their noses. UGH. They don’t usually eat them, I don’t THINK but my 3-y/o doesn’t care to use a tissue and will wipe it anywhere. UGH!!!!

  14. We’re a Stride Rite in the winter and Crocs in the summer shoe-kind-of-family but I’ve heard so many good things about Eleven and See Kai Run that I think one of these days I’ll have to try a pair.

I think my faves are the boys Caper. Although I have to admit. I fell hard for the girls collection. Maybe this new baby will be a girl??

  15. Oh my I have never heard of these shoes but now I am glad I stopped by your blog. I have to say that all the shoes are adorable but since only my daughter can wear them that I would have to pick the Pixie Shoe. Oh and my daughter picks her nose (it must be the age…LOL!!)

  16. I like the Kai pair for Max. His fave color is red, therefore he wears a lot of it. They don’t run small enough for Cate yet. Great giveaway. HOpe I win.

  17. I love the Joaquin and the Orlando…love pink and green together! I have never heard of this brand before – very cool!

  18. I like the Nadia and they would look super cute on my little Abby

  19. they have some really good deals going on! My favorites, of course, are not on sale, so I’ll just have to cross my fingers and hope to win! :) I like the “Aubin”. Thanks so much!

  20. I’m loving the Josef trainer….but they’re all pretty sweet. What a great giveaway!

  21. I once heard someone try to justify nose picking/eating to actually be healthy for children(and adults, eww). They said that there is a collection of antibodies in their little snack which helps strengthen their immune system. I am not sure if I believe this and have yet to take the time to research it. Whatever floats their boat.

I think that the Alexi’s are quite cute and would choose them for myself if they came in my size.

  22. Love the shoes. All of them. I could buy a pair of each of them. But I think since it is spring, and sandal weather is coming, I’d go with the Mayas. Good to know they’re durable…I’ve got a couple of boys that rip through their shoes. Ella’s feet, however, seem to grow so slowly that she can wear the same pair of shoes for 2 an entire year it seems…

Ella picks her nose too. On purpose. She does it because she gets a reaction from me…then she says EEEEEeew. It’s pretty funny. She never gets anything out of there, she just sticks her finger up there, says Ew, and then wipes her finger on me. Love her.

  23. Thankfully my kids have outgrown the nose picking habit :)!

I’m going gaga over the “Emma” shoes….how sweet and my youngest would LOVE them!

  24. I think the IGGY shoe style would look just perfect on our one year old grandson! Think he would like them too!

  25. Its a tough call, but I guess my favorite are the Capers.

  26. I think the Rio sneakers are the bees knees!

Thanks! foxsquirrelrabbit at gmail dot com

  27. I just love those Laura shoes (the Eleanor are cute too).

  28. Thanks for the review! My son is just starting to stand and soon he’ll be walking so I guess it’s time to start thinking about shoes soon. There are so many brands to choose from so it’s nice to know which ones have been tried and true cause some of them seem so stiff and like they would give him blisters. As for Eleven, I love the Caper shoes and would love to win a pair!

  29. Too many great choices, I love the Lucia, the Sasha, and the Emma. They are all great. They would be for my adorable 7 year old niece. If I were to win I would let her pick. She adores shopping. Thanks!

  30. Well I could pick about a dozen pair but since we get a lot of rain around here I better pick a full coverage shoe the Kasota for my daughter! Thanks!

  31. I am not sure what I did the first time I saw Austin eat one of his boogers, but it must have been effective because he hasn’t done it since. (I sure wish I knew what I said :)

I love See Kai Run shoes. My favorite Eleven shoes are the Eli and the Joaquin.
    Thanks for the chance!

  32. I catch my twins picking their noses a few times lately- gross? yes, but i think its a part of growing up? i tell them not too, but they go ahead adn do it anyways!
I know this isnt a spring show, but i love the LUC and the Alexi!

    thanks for the chance=]

  33. This was a hard choice to make! I decided the Aubin shoes (in the boy section) would be the best choice. Really stylish but also practical. Thanks for the chance!

  34. I love the Emma sandal for girls in a size 9! Thank you for the chance to win.

  35. I love the Laura! The pink combination is adorable! Thanks for entering me.

  36. My daughter totally adores the Emma sandals! Thanks for the giveaway!

  39. Our favorites are the Iggy shoes. Thanks for the giveaway.

  40. I love the Eleven Trainer! These are seriously adorable. Where are the grown-up sizes?

  41. I love the James shoes, size12! But they are all so cute and fun, who could decide???

Thank you for the giveaway! Hope that you are having a nice weekend!

  42. I love 11 shoes! My fave are the Eleanor, i love the color and think they would look super sweet on my little ones feet.
    Thanks so much

  43. Haven’t heard of them until now… Thanks!! I have one of those boys with wide chunks ‘o feet too! ;) LOVE these for him (almost 3 yrs.) and my daughter who’s 4. The Kasotas set my heart a-flutter with the pink and brown. Loving the groovy Capers for my son!!

  44. I love the Sofia shoes! I’ve never heard of this brand before – thanks for the recommendation. :)

  45. I think I’m in love with the Nadia’s! My son is picky about shoes whereas my daughter would probably love these.
Great giveaway! I’m having my first next week — hoping to get a post up for it tomorrow.

  46. These are the coolest shoes!
I like the Iggy BUT my little man says he wants the Eli, so I have to go with that one.

  47. My little pink princess would love the Kasota sneakers in a size 11. She is starting kindergarten in the fall and would LOVE THOSE.

  48. It’s a hard decision because they’re all so cute, but I think the Astrid are my favorite for my daughter. Thanks!

  49. I love “Kai in size 9”. Looks great. Thanks for this lovely giveaway!

  50. I have wanted to get my daughter a pair of eleven shoes, I have herd of there great durablity. And my daughter could sure put that to the test. It is a tuff choice between the Maya and the Alexi, but I think I would have to go with the Alexi in size 9. Thanks

  51. Heart’s blaze are those sweet blue Nadia sandals, but I’d choose the Aubin or James shoes if I won since our daughter won’t enter Eleven size-range for a while now. Thanks for the giveaway!
