Well, friends. I tried but I simply couldn’t wait any longer to share my Christmas home tour. Top to bottom, our home is all decked out for the holidays and it’s been that way for a couple of weeks now. Since we’re still relatively new to this house I find that decorating for any season takes a bit of experimenting. Christmas has been no exception. As you’ll see, I stayed true to a rustic farmhouse style, though I really leaned heavily on one particular color scheme this year. You’ll see. Let’s not wait any longer. Come on inside. I hope you’ll pick up a few Christmas home decor ideas to use in your own decorating this year.
Christmas Home Decor Ideas | Dining Room
We don’t do a lot of entertaining but this chippy, chunky farmhouse style table is my absolute favorite piece of furniture and I love decorating it. Our formal dining room is also centrally-located in our home and so I like to go all out in styling this room.
My “centerpiece” is really more of a runner. I built the whole thing on the foundation of a red scarf, of all things.
I went from there, adding layer upon layer of texture. The trees are from Hobby Lobby and are covered in faux gray fur.
The faux birch votive holders are also a Hobby Lobby find. I used assorted ribbon and twine to adorn several brown boxes and placed them at the bases of the trees.
How perfect are these galvanized metal plate chargers? I love the fluted edges of them. They’re from Pier One. The wooden snowflakes are from Hobby Lobby.
I didn’t mess with the wall decor too much. I did, however, add a festive wreath to my tobacco basket.
And I could not resist this adorable, whimsical garland. It coordinates so perfectly with my color scheme.
Christmas Home Decor Ideas | Staircase
Another prominent feature in our home is the staircase. When I was looking for Christmas home decor ideas and inspiration I kept coming across staircase banisters adorned with ornate greenery. While I definitely can find the beauty in that style, it’s not so much a fit for our home, so I went in a different direction.
The large galvanized letters are another Hobby Lobby purchase. I attached a sprig of greenery with a ribbon and some lights.
The entryway console tabletop is covered with candlesticks and Christmas greenery with a southern twist: cotton.
Christmas Home Decor Ideas | Living Room
Moving on to our living room, you’ll notice that I introduced lots of pops of color to our normally very neutral space.
I’m not normally a red kind of girl, but it’s really the obvious (and most beautiful) choice for Christmas decor.
There’s red all over this room. The throw pillows, lanterns and stockings all tie it in. I even managed to get bits of red on my shelves.
I used a wreath, blankets and twinkly lights to transform our ladder into a holiday showstopper, too.
I can only speak for myself here, but I have the most difficult time styling my wire cloche. I really love the cloche itself, but each time the season changes I have the most difficult time figuring out what to do with it. For Christmas, I stacked some small grapevine wreaths inside with a couple of greenery picks, a grapevine star and some twinkle lights. I’m super happy with the way it turned out. That said, if you have any insider Christmas home decor ideas for styling a wire cloche, I’m all ears.
Have you noticed the suspicious lack of a proper Christmas tree so far in your tour? I hope you weren’t looking for Christmas home decor ideas for your Christmas tree because you won’t find those here. Not yet, at least. We buy really trees and, sadly, it’s too soon for that. If, however, you’re curious what my tree will look like when it’s in place, check back at the end of November for that post. Our tree will go in this spot that the console table normally is placed.
I’ll be posting part two of my Christmas home tour later this week. It will include my super cute hot cocoa bar. I hope you’ll stop by to see it!
