As the title suggests, this post is all about what I’m up to, currently.

Awaiting: My mom’s arrival! She’s flying in for a long weekend. This post will be published as we are on our way to pick her up from the airport in Nashville. She’s coming to a) celebrate my birthday with me and b) see our new house for the first time!

Craving: highly-caloric baked pasta dishes. It’s the time of year during which I tend to do that. Luckily, I can balance it out with nutritionally-packed powerhouse meals that taste good, too. I found this recipe for sausage, sweet potato noodles and broccoli skillet a month or so ago and we’ve made it at least three times since then. Don’t shy away from it if you don’t have a spiralizer. I don’t either, so I just shred the sweet potatoes in the food processor and it works just fine.untitled-1
Listening to: Chain Breaker by Zach Williams. I just love this song. It’s been playing on repeat around my house for a week now.

Crushing on: my backyard. You guys. I knew when we moved in that our backyard was a great place to relax, but I had no idea that come autumn we would be in for such a treat. You can bet, though, that this October-loving girl is head over heels in love with what’s going down on those trees out back. So much beauty, right out my window. I’m not taking it for granted.275b2082

Loving: the 2 for $50 Dine and Discover menu at Bonefish Grill. We took the kids out for a nice dinner (complete with cloth napkins, dimmed lights and everything!) last weekend. Jeff and Jayce ordered off that menu. They had Cedar Plank Bourbon Salmon. Their 2 for $50 meal also included an order of Bang Bang shrimp and the dessert of their choice. Have you ever tried the Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish? Man, that’s good–and I normally shy away menu items that are described as “spicy,” but this one had just the perfect amount of zip. Bonefish is a go-to for us when we’re looking for an upscale dining experience at a doable price point.275b2046275b2056275b2062
Wearing: Lucky Brand’s Basel Flat Bootie. I bought a pair of these super versatile booties a little over a month ago and they’ve quickly skyrocketed to the top of my wardrobe favorites. They’re really comfortable, even for all day wear and they look great with just about everything in my closet so win-win.untitled-2
Discovering: even more awesome things about this hidden gem of a city we moved to. A couple of weekends ago, Jeff and I scored tickets to a wine festival downtown and had a blast. And then last weekend we went to the Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll. What, exactly, is a cemetery stroll? I didn’t know, either. Once a year, Huntsville’s most famous and interesting haunts come alive in the city’s oldest cemetery to relay Huntsville’s history in a unique and fun way. Live actors dress the part of people who are buried in the cemetery and tell their story to visitors. It was such a great event! We learned about an infamous Huntsville Madame whose home used to sit on the corner where the largest city hospital is now located and the tragic story of a young girl who died three months after her wedding day when her family’s slaves accidentally gave her Boric acid to drink instead of the Epsom salts that would have given her skin a shiny glow. 275b1954275b1958275b1964275b1993275b2007275b2031275b1962
Cheering on: the Wolf Pack! Jayce has just a couple of soccer games left in the season and I’m kinda bummed about it. The kid is a beast on the field; it’s so much fun to watch his games! 275b1930

  1. Wow, Jayce looks very serious!
I hope you have a great visit with your mom, and happy birthday eve!

  2. This completely cracks me up. I just sat down to catch up on your blog, and lo and behold I find you repeating the same song that I posted today. I’m not surprised. (Also, I have and love those boots too!)
