Farmhouse inspired great room tour

It has been nearly three months since we closed on this house. These three months have been packed solidly full of hustle and bustle. Not only are trying to get the rooms of our home put together, but we’re trying to do so while simultaneously contending with school schedules, soccer schedules and, oh yeah, the first job outside of the house I’ve held in 18+ years. No biggie, right? Wrong.

Finally, though, I have a room mostly put together. The built-ins aren’t exactly where I want them to be but overall, the great room is nearly complete. Want to take a glimpse?

So…how do you think it turned out? It’s my favorite room so far. Of course, it’s also the only finished room so far so there’s that. Just for fun, here’s a glimpse back at the style board I put together with my inspiration for this space.

There are definitely noticeable differences, but I think I stayed fairly close to my plan, don’t you?

We’re working on the keeping room now. Let’s tour that next, shall we?

  1. It’s beautiful, of course. I wonder now after all the decision making, how you feel about the built ins? In glancing at pictures I do not notice a difference at all. :)

    1. Thank you! I’m not the least bit bothered by the slight width difference of the built-ins. I’m glad I went with them :)

  2. You are so amazingly talented in so many ways! This is magazine perfect. And how you have the courage to do all the white with kids makes you about the bravest woman I know. This is absolutely stunning.

    1. You are way too kind to me, Anna, but I enjoy it! Thank you for the compliments. The furniture has cushion covers that can be washed so I’m not *as* brave as it appears at first glance.

  3. Fabulous! Thanks for sharing. I may have to pick your brain since we are about to redo the downstairs and make a great room out of two rooms. What am I getting myself into? LOL

    1. You’re getting yourself into a long and treacherous project, I presume. It’ll be worth it in the end–just try to remember that. Good luck, friend!
