As a Compassion blogger, I was provided with complimentary movie tickets to facilitate this post and giveaway. All opinions are my own.
Over the weekend, we loaded up the family and headed to our local theater to see the new Son of God movie. Snacks in hand, we settled in to enjoy the show and sure enough we did, for the first hour or so anyway. It was at about that point that the theater’s power began to flicker and the movie was interrupted several times. By about the fifth time it happened, theater employes came in and announced that they were evacuating the theater and offering rain checks to come back and see the movie another day. Given that it was opening weekend of a movie that aims to educate the masses on the life of Jesus, I couldn’t help but think about this old Paul Harvey recording, entitled “If I were the devil.” It’s worth a listen if you’ve never heard it.
I didn’t get to see the movie’s second half, but that’s okay because I have read The Book and I know how the story ends. Would you like to take your family to see the movie? I’m giving away four tickets. Enter below. Good luck!
Well I would love to go. I have heard rave reviews from viewers and read critical assessments from bloggers, and would like to form my own opinion. I am happy to see alternative movies coming from Hollywood.
I haven’t heard full reviews from any friends about the movie yet, but I’m interested in seeing it and making that decision for myself anyway. :)

I’m wanting to go see it. I feel compelled to support films that try to offer something other than the typical Hollywood trash. There are actually several movies out or coming out that I would like to see. Typically there is maybe one a year…
Would love to go too but I’m probably too far away! :-/ Will certainly look for it over here in London, it looks really interesting. I hear ‘Noah’ will be out pretty soon too? Can’t wait to see that. Interesting listening to the Paul Harvey recording, so (shockingly) true and yet comes across as ‘normal’ to the world as he goes about his destructive work :-( Agree with you that your theatre incident was no coincidence!

Looking forward to seeing this movie. Question: What is the youngest appropriate age for a child to see?
The general consensus seems to be 12, Susan. As I mentioned in the post, I have not been able to see the ending so I can’t give you my own firsthand opinion. That said, I will tell you that I took my 7-year-old to the theater fully intending to see the film in its entirety. He is a very mature seven; I can’t say that I would have been so confident in taking my more sensitive daughters to see a similar film when they were his age.
I have heard mixed reviews on this. We’d love to see it.

This is not a film that I would take “lightly” although as always the movie did take some “liberties” in it’s production.
I would love to take my girls to see this movie! I’ve heard wonderful reviews about it!
My wife and I are really looking forward to seeing ‘SON of GOD’. And I like how that the film is taking the stories of Jesus directly from the Bible, and adhering to them closely. I realize that there will be some liberties taken, but that is to be expected with any adaptations to film.
