“BEE ANYTHING” GRADUATION PARTY THEME

When my youngest daughter graduated from high school, I was at a loss for how to theme the celebration party. But the moment I laid eyes on a cute tin bucket with a bee stenciled on the front of it, I knew exactly what direction to take. Today, I’m sharing a graduation party theme and ideas that I hope will inspire you to create a party that leaves your friends buzzing.

When it comes to any themed party, it’s important to set the tone right from the start. Much like I did in throwing a Neverland Themed Baby Shower for my oldest daughter, I wanted to incorporate the party theme from the very start for this bee-themed event. That is exactly what I did in creating the invitations for this party.

I custom created my own invitations using digital assets I purchased online. Our invitations were printed by a professional photo lab.

The graduation announcement features a full color image of my daughter with a rose gold foil overlay depicting her graduation year. On the back of the announcement, I printed a Bible verse that fits perfectly with the theme. I also included a few honeybees.

Those same honeybees can be found buzzing around the boho wreath on the invitation insert. 

After the invitations were addressed and sealed, I used a piece of color-coordinating washi tape to add a fun embellishment to the card. Our friends and family loved receiving these in the mail and it gave them a little hint about our theme. A theme that we took full advantage of in planning our menu.

Given our bee theme, there was an obvious tie-in for what direction our menu should take. We made sure to incorporate honey in as many of our menu items as we could. Here’s what we served:

• Turkey Burgers and Hot Dogs on Honey Wheat Buns
• Honey Nut Snack Mix (peanut butter filled pretzels, honey nut cereal, mini marshmallows, cheese crackers & honey roasted almonds)
• Honey Mustard Potato Salad
• Pepper Slaw with Spicy Honey Vinaigrette
• Sweet Honey White Sangria
• Honey Lime Margaritas
• Almond Cake with Honey Buttercream (created by a local baker)
• Homemade Salted Honey Ice Cream
