You know how when you live in a place long enough, you start to take certain perks for granted? After enduring weeks of gloomy gray skies I can say with certainty that I took Arizona’s sunny days for granted. In fact, there were even times when we lived there that I wished for rain if only because I desperately wanted some variation in weather. We have that now, here in Alabama. I’m not complaining; Huntsville is a much better fit for us than Tucson was. I will say, though, that when the sun shone this morning for a solid four hours, it was positively life-giving. I took the opportunity to implement some modern farmhouse console table spring decor ideas and style a prominent table in our home. I thought it would be fun to share a mini makeover on how to transition a console table from winter to spring decor. You want to take a look at the process?
The table I’m making over for this post was styled with neutral, everyday decor when I started. I liked the look, but it was kind of heavy and dark. I wanted something much lighter and brighter for spring.
First things first, I cleared almost all the decor off the table top and the shelves. The speaker has to stay. The glass bottles are light and airy enough to remain. The silver tub will also stay, though it will take on a new appearance when all is said and done.
As I always do when I’m styling a rectangular-shaped space, I started on the ends. Adding height on the ends of the table helps to create a triangular shape. Imagine that the tip of the triangle sits just above the number twelve on the clock and the other two points sit on either end of the table.
With the ends decided, I started building balance on the upper shelf. I placed some rustic clay pots with a hint of green moss poking out and returned the wire basket to its original spot, replacing the dark-colored books with some lighter ones.
Next up, I needed to add some texture. I did so by placing a neutral lumbar pillow on the bottom shelf and a couple of folded blankets on the upper shelf.
The final–and most fun–step came in the addition of some fun seasonal accents. I used wooden bunnies next to the botanical print for a touch of whimsy. Two rustic wooden candleholders and a white pitcher on the opposite end of the table give proportion. And the roses add a pop of life and color to the galvanized tub on the bottom shelf. The new, light and spring-like styling of this table makes me so happy.
Are you ready for a mini makeover in your own home? Here are some modern farmhouse console table spring decor ideas for you to keep in mind.
- If possible, try to create a triangle between the ends of the table and a high focal point in the center.
- Use a variety of textures by adding pillows, blankets, metals, ceramic and wood accent pieces.
- Create balance and proportion by gradually sizing down decor pieces towards the center of the table on the top shelf.
- Use mostly neutral colors, adding a few pops of blush pink and kelly green to add life to the space.
I hope these modern farmhouse console table spring decor ideas have given you some seasonal inspiration for transitioning a piece of furniture and styling it for spring!
